Mushrooms

These are my fairytale mushrooms. I took these pictures in my front yard. I have never seen one of these mushrooms in real life before. I thought they were just make believe. Like the drawings you find in fables and other stories.

Five things that most people don't know about me.

1. I don't have a lot certain favorites. If you were to ask me what my favorite color was I would say I don't have one I would say I have like 5, pink, purple, green, white, yellow, and brown. Ok that was more like 6. See I don't have just 1. I also don't have a favorite book (I have too many to list), I love too many movies & songs, I just like food, desserts (we will just not comment), restaurant, flowers, etc.

2. I have been to the tiny island of Siapan.

3. I have always had a secret (and I mean secret) desire to be a singer, a dancer and a gymnast. I was told by a sixth grade teacher that I didn't have the voice to be a singer. I never lived in one place more than a couple of years so we never did dance or gymnastics. I never pushed hard enough either.

4. I worked in 2 different pet stores and wanted to own every pet there ever was. I don't anymore.

5. I have always been an excellent speller and at remembering phone numbers and now with old age creeping in I am losing something I prised a lot. It is very depressing.

Now to tag some one else:
Since there is only one other person who reads this it has to be JEN!

Blood VS Water

I am sure everyone is aware of the old saying, "Blood is thicker than water". And I am sure if you ever went to High School biology class you even proved that it was true, but so is oil and so many other things. And I am sure there are so many things out there that might even be thicker than blood.
I am having a hard time with this concept, I would love to think that it wouldn't matter whether, you have the same blood running through your veins biologically to stick by someone, or to help them out, or to call them sister or brother. I would love to think I am not the only one who thinks like this either.
I hear a lot of times people using phrases like, "she is my ONLY sister". Maybe because I don't have any sisters I don't know what that would be like, but I do have an only brother. I also have a lot of really dear friends and in most cases when talking with people they think I come from a very large family, because of the way I talk about them. I have had numerous people taken back, when I tell them I have only one sibling, and it is because I care so deeply about so many people. My blood is not even thought of in those "friends" as blood or water.
I know some times our deepest hurts come from those we love the most, but I think those are the ones we should be willing to forgive and forget the fastest with. It may just be the water that will wash away the blood in the end anyways! But don't let the water and the blood be the problem or the difference. I have so much family in my life and I don't even know where the blood ends anymore, I think I will leave it that way!

Aunt Jenn's Wedding

All Dressed in White!!
The girls and one of their cousins got to be flower girls for their Aunt Jennifer, Shawn's sister, wedding. Naomee's wearth was giving her trouble before the walk down the aisle. It was a lot of fun watching them walk down the aisle just before the bride came out.

More Cute Behinds!

Playground Time!

On an adventure!

Such cute behinds!
While we were waiting for Shawn to come home from the BYU football game we walked down to a nearby park. The girls had so much fun just playing.

Soccer Star

Madie started a new exciting season of Microsoccer. Her daddy is the coach again this year. Our team is quite incredible this year, there are 12 kids, 8 1st graders and 4 kindergarteners. 9 of the kids are in our ward. So it is like having like a playdate with a bunch of friends 2 days a week.
Naomee is a little jealous that she can't play yet. So we signed her up for a class for preschoolers. She is really good, she has such a straight kick.

Saturday, Sept 1st

It is a new month, and even though it is not a new year, I want to start something new. I just want to let my family and friends know that I will be keeping in better touch with them. I want those who are most important to me to know how much I love them and to know it more often. I have been contemplating a lot of things lately, and one of them is just where I stand on my feelings towards others. I am a very caring person and a very honest person too, so I just want to let you know that I love you all.
Love Heather

Remember

Today, as I sit and ponder life, the silence is broken by the sounds of kids screaming outside. Well, not really screaming, and I am can't really sit and ponder with the amount of noise that is produced out of 3 such cute little things. How do you ponder anyways? I have been thinking back a lot lately to when I was a young thing, a few years ago, and how I used to play outside and the joy I found in playing in the dirt and mud. I decided that I was no longer going to get upset with my girls for doing the same things that I did as a child. Until... well I guess they do something really terrible with this new found freedom, since I just gave it to them 3 days ago. They of course don't know I have given it to them, so we will see what comes of that. So far they have just made mud balls and cookies.
Do you remember those?

Duck Pond

Here is the girls by a duck pond next to the Hillsboro Public Library. It was so fun to just sit in the shade and watch them.

We had so much fun then we invited the RS to join us the next week. It was a great success. (except that Ariana wasn't there!! J/K we just miss you)

Camping @ Kilchiss'

Here are a few photos from our camping trip last weekend. This place was so great. Loads of trees for exploring. (that is why there is not many pictures of Madie and Cadie, they were never around.) The campground was about 4 miles away from the cheese factory in Tillamook. The girls got so dirty, but had so much fun that they slept the whole way home. This was our ward campout, but I think we will go back next year, or even later this year just as a family.

Summer Games

Summer friends make for long lasting friendships!! This is the start of a hide and seek game in a friends backyard. The first of many games to be played.

Seeking a title

This is my Cadie just goofing off. She is so funny sometimes, she can make me smile and laugh and cry and scream all in the same day. Why are kids so full of emotions? Why am I so full of emotions?
I made this poster on snapfish with all her pictures, they had so many emotions in each one that all together they were beautiful. I just need a title for the poster, my original was "Cadie in all her glory", but it just doesn't seem right.

Summer

Ok so the new computer is on the way, so this will be hit and miss for a while. But while I have a charged battery I will put this picture on. I think this is the meaning of summer.
We are going camping tonight, so I will update when we get back.

Bunnies

Here is a couple of current pictures of our bunnies. They will be 3 months old next friday the 3rd of Aug. Luna is the white one, Biscuit is the brown one, and Romeo(or pepper)is the black and white one. If you look at a previous picture it shows how big they were in comparison to Naomee's hand at one month old. In these ones you can see how big they are in comparison to Cadie's hand at almost 3 months old. They are really fun, we just finished a large hutch divided into 3 cages. It almost makes me want to breed them... Maybe not, we will have to see.

Another First

So here is another first. I have worked at 2 different pet stores and picked up a lot of garden snakes in my time. This is first time I have ever been bitten by a snake. It was just a little garden snake in a friends yard. It was really interesting to feel, not a sharp cut or anything, but they have a strong mouth. Surprisingly it even bleed. A new first for me. Naomee found a snake in our yard a few months ago and we stuck it in a garden in our yard. Then our neighbor brought us one that he picked up from his yard the other day. We left it in the jar in our house overnight. I don't know why, I think I wanted the kids to all be home when I released it. Well, I went to release it and it was gone. So it is loose some where in the house. I have searched for it for a long time and in some strange places (garbage disposal is one of them). Cadie for the first few hours kept her feet off the floor, but still no sign of the snake. Luckily it is very small snake and not likely to cause too much trouble.
The tiny red mark on my hand, which may be hard to see, is the bite.

Sunday Meetings

Today we went to sacrament meeting as usual. And as usual I learned something new while listening to the speakers. But this time it is different. It was heavier. Well, as this speaker put it, it was of weightier matters. Steve Garrity, who some of you know and some don't know, is an excellent speaker. You wouldn't necessarily gather that from a normal conversation from him, but he really is a profound thinker. I have been wondering about a few things lately, and wondering how to go about a change for the better in my life. Well, believe it or not, it was spelled out for me today. I learned that simple is the way to go. Being on time is of great importance, but not if it means causing problems in your family. Your family is who you will live with in Heaven, not the person you are trying to be like, or the one you compete with at work for the employee of the month award. Your family is your most prized possession, not the nicest car or biggest house. Making your family life the best it can be, should be one of the most important things in your life. A Safe Haven! I wish I had been taking notes in this sacrament meeting, it really struck a cord with me and for that I am most grateful.

I am really grateful for the family I have, my kids are really great kids and I know we chose each other in the preexistence. I want to challenge myself to see that the little things are more important than the big things. I want my kids to know that my undivided attention is on them and their accomplishments, not that they came in slamming the door.

I love each of my friends and other family members out there reading this, and want you to know it.

Love,

Heather

Saturday has come and gone!

So Saturday has come and gone. I left early this morning to pick up my copy of Harry Potter. I decided that I was just going to run to Target and pick it up, with hopes that no one else was thinking like me. I knew the bookstores would be swamped and that I might run the risk of not getting a copy. So, Target was as quiet as could be, you would never know that something big was taking place. So I went home after getting my book and then straight to a friends for breakfast. After breakfast and few quick games on their Nintendo Wii, I ran a couple of errands with my friend. Only to end up with a really bad headache and a grumpy 3 year old. I was able to get the grumpy queen down for a nap,as well as the 3 year old one too. Thankfully my headache went away and I was able to finish my errands with my friend. I am on the Enrichment committee in my ward and so we were gathering things for our next activity. When I got home from those errands I had to run and pick up Cadie from a friends house and run yet just one more errand. After dinner, baths and a chapter of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers stone for the girls, I am able to sit in a quiet house. Unfortunately not reading my new book. It is now 10:30pm and I am just finishing up a project for church and then heading to bed.
Now why was it so important for me to insist on getting the new Harry Potter book today?
This is a very tired and wore out Heather signing off!

One of my newest passions this year. Not just growing the pretty little flowers, but capturing some of there beauty. I feel so successful when I can go back and look at what has grown in my garden, by my hand. I have become very passionate about my container gardens this year, I will post some of them later. I love learning something new and being able to be successful at it. It just takes a desire to try, to be successful.

July 19th

I can't seem to wait for this Saturday. I am getting really excited about the newest Harry Potter book. I didn't think I was that excited until, I have made several trip to Tartget recently in hopes that the date has changed. But alas, it hasn't. Now I am planning my Saturday morning. I even have the money set aside and ready.
Enough about me and my reading habits. I finally have a minor not a major headache day, and so I am catching up on laundry and other things that tend to get away from me when I feel bad. The girls are probably wishing I did have a headache, because then they wouldn't have to do their chores, and they would be able to have a playdate instead. It is good for them to stay home to learn and work.
Well I best go switch my laundry since it just stopped.
Wish me luck with my housework! There just seems to be so much all the time.

Pictures

This is one of newest members of our family. This is Biscuit. She is one month old in this picture, she is now 2 1/2 months old. We have 2 more, Juliet and Luna. Cadie has wanted to get a bunny. So we decided that we would make her earn them by studying and learning all she could. She even had to do a report, which was more of a fact sheet.

A first for everything..Right?

So they say there is a first for everything. Well here is my first for today. I have never done a blog and have only read one in my life. So this is a new experience for me. I would like to think this will be a great adventure for me. I am very excited.
I don't have much to say today, except that everything here is going good. The girls are enjoying life, summer, summer school, swimming, their new playground, all of life in general really.
Madie just had to have 2 fillings done today. Poor kid has had 4 cavities and 1 crown before she was 6. (Although 2 of them didn't get filled till after she turned 6). And to add more insult to this she doesn't even have a loose tooth yet. She hasn't lost any teeth. But as a consulation for having all this done we have found out what a brave soul she is. She has sat through all of these procedures with no complaints. Not one. (except that she doesn't want to be there, but who can blame her.)
At the end of last month Cadie conquered a long standing fear and saw the dentist for the first time. It was very successful visit, with cleaning and xrays and NO tears. She allowed the dentist to clean her teeth, scrap them, floss them and for xrays to be done. This, as many of you know, is a HUGE accomplishment for her.
Naomee, well she just keeps me busy. I don't know what else to say except that she is very high-spirited and loving all at the same time. I believe that she was a cat in a former life. She loves to rub her face on your face and if you would let her she would lick your hand too. She can say some of the funniest things, like this time we were in Home Depot and she had to go to the bathroom. So I took her over to the bathrooms and she tells me "we need to go into the boys bathroom" so I say to her, "why, you're not a boy." and she says "yes I am, I am a boy" I asked since when have you been a boy? "Since today," she said as if totally convinced of this. While we proceeded with using the girls bathroom, since mommy was indeed a girl, she continues this conversation. She continues with such determination that I could hear the women in the stall next to us stifling a giggle. I bet she enjoyed her visit to the "Womens" room that day.
There are so many others that I could tell you about and I will as they happen. That is my goal for this blog, to keep you updated on my family. Thanks for taking time to read this.
Love, Heather
